Accidental injuries can happen at school, and injuries are always unexpected. Medical treatment is costly, and many families may be insured, but have high-deductible personal insurance plans in place leaving them with many out-of-pocket expenses after an injury occurs. When a school provides Accidental Injury Insurance to assist with these unexpected medical expenses, a happy ending is imminent.

INCLUDE INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR TEAM INTERSCHOLASTIC SPORTS

Many schools purchase Accidental Injury Coverage for their Team Athletic participants, whether or not they provide Accidental Injury Insurance for their full-time students. Students are representing their school while participating in these events and coverage should be provided for injuries occurring during the play and practice of these school sponsored activities. Travel to and from a school-sponsored event is also covered. Without the benefit of this insurance, a student may avoid medical treatment, leaving him/her with a long-term disabling condition affecting the possibility of participation as an athlete in the future.

INCREASE THE DEDUCTIBLE ON THE TEAM INTERCOLLEGIATE SPORTS INSURANCE

As deductibles increase, premiums decrease. Some schools provide School-Time Accidental Injury Insurance for their student body to a specific dollar amount, and include coverage for their Team Interscholastic Sports in these benefits. This spreads the cost of medical treatment over the entire student body, keeping premiums for these medical expenses minimal. Then, a separate higher-deductible insurance program can be put into place for the Team Interscholastic Sports participants, which allows a significant decrease in premium cost for the Team Interscholastic Sports Insurance.

HOW ARE PREMIUMS FOR THIS COVERAGE DETERMINED?

Premiums are based on the number of students attending school, and/or the number of students participating in your school’s athletic program. Our request for Quote Form requests this information from you. If you have an existing insurance plan for students and/or athletes, we would want to review a copy of your current policy so that we provide the same coverage, improving benefits you feel are necessary. We would also want to review the plan reporting you are provided with by your current insurance company to determine premiums collected for the existing plan, as well as claims paid.
